FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Aunt Millies Bakery donated over a ton of food Thursday, literally.
They delivered 2,400 loaves of bread to the community Harvest Food Bank Thursday afternoon.
This fresh bread is a small slice of the bigger donation of nearly 60,000 loaves of bread to food banks across the Midwest over the holiday season.
Claudia Johnson with Community Harvest Food Bank says, “Fresh bread is something we don't normally get as a donation so this is wonderful. And it'll go to our kids backpack program and kids cafe sites first. And our senior pack program, and then it'll move on to our community cupboard and any of our agencies so... if there's any left. But it'll go fast!”
The Community Harvest Food Bank expects the bread to last until Monday or Tuesday of next week.
