ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Officials with the Allen County Coroner's Office say they've seen an increase in the number of autopsies this year.
About "two dozen more cases" this year compared with last year.
The Allen County Coroner's Senior Investigator, Patt Kite, says an increase in auto crashes and children's deaths means more cases for their office.
Kite says, “We've had a big influx of motor vehicle crashes this year. The average for the last several years has been yearly average of 26 and this year we've already had 28. We've had an awful lot of child deaths this year as well, an inordinate amount.”
Kite also says they've asked county council for an additional $25,000 this year to pay for toxicology reports and staff wages.
