INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indianapolis man convicted of killing three children and four adults during a home invasion robbery three years ago is facing a sentence of life in prison.
Marion Superior Court Judge Robert Altice is scheduled to sentence 31-year-old Desmond Turner on Friday.
Altice found Turner guilty of seven counts of murder and other charges last month at the end of a nine-day bench trial. Altice has said he will sentence Turner to life in prison without parole.
The judge cited the shooting deaths of the children, ages 11 years old and younger, among the reasons Turner deserves the life sentence.
Turner waived his right to a jury trial in exchange for prosecutors dropping their request for the death penalty.
