ENGLISH, Ind. (AP) - A southern Indiana lawmaker has been hospitalized.

Democratic State Rep. Dennie Oxley of Taswell missed the General Assembly's Organization Day on Tuesday with an undisclosed illness.
The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Ky., says he's been admitted to the critical care unit at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

The newspaper says more information about his illness is not available.

Oxley is a 60-year-old Crawford County school teacher who's serving his first two-year term in the Indiana House. He was elected last year to represent House District 73, which includes all or parts of Crawford, Washington, Perry, Clark, Jackson, Scott, Harrison and Dubois counties. He replaced his son, Dennie Oxley Jr., of English, who held the seat for 10 years.
