WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Whitley County Prosecutor's Office charged Rodney Houser with murder Friday morning.
The whereabouts of Debra Houser are unknown but according to court documents, evidence indicated Rodney Houser may have have something to do with her disappearance.
Debra Houser was reported missing Wednesday morning.
Court documents state Houser drove to Waynedale and dumped Ms. Houser's Dodge Durango and a bag with Houser's purse, cell phone, and bloody pants inside.
He later received a ride from a friend back to Whitley County and during the drive, he confessed to killing his ex-wife and asked for help burying her body.
When the friend dropped Mr. Houser off, he drove away and reported the crime to the Whitley County Sheriff's Office.
At this time Debra Houser's body has not been found.
According to the court affidavit for propable cause, both Ms. Houser's 22-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son said Rodney and Debra Houser had been fighting the night before.
"I'm just devastated by what happened to her. I can't understand how somebody can do that to a woman", said Elaine Burns, a co-worker of Debra Houser's in Columbia City.
Police are asking all property owners and hunters in Whitley County to be aware of anything suspicious or out of place. If you see anything you're asked to call the Whitley County Sheriff's Office immediately.
