NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) - A California start-up company that will make windmills to supply power for businesses and residences is moving to southern Indiana.
WindStream Technologies Inc. of Manhattan Beach, Calif., plans to open in the Purdue Technology Center in New Albany by February.
President Dan Bates says his wind-powered generators are designed to work on as little as 4 mph of wind in urban settings. The devices will be small enough to be installed on houses, businesses or light poles.
He says the windmills won't get people entirely off the electric grid but will cut electricity costs and reduce users' carbon footprints.
