NIPSCO Reinstating Heating Assistance Programs

June 18, 2010 Updated Dec 1, 2009 at 12:31 PM EST INDIANA (Indiana's NewsCenter) - NIPSCO will re-instate a heating assistance program in line with a state order requiring it to pay more of the program's funding. The natural gas company said it will renew its Winter Warmth program. NIPSCO says its program has provided more than $25 million to help 70,000 of its customers in 25 counties since 2004. The order from the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission requires participating utilities to pay at least 25 percent of the funding. NIPSCO says its average residential customers will contribute about 63-cents a-month toward the assistance program.
