FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - World Aids Day is being promoted across the globe to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS.
The AIDS Task Force of Northeast Indiana sponsored a breakfast that also celebrated the group's 25th anniversary.
And local groups will pass out 10,00 red ribbons to honor people with HIV and AIDS.
More than 8,000 Hoosiers are known to be living with aids, 466-of them live Allen County.
And the head of the AIDS Task Force says "awareness" has come a long way
Gregory Manifold with the Aids Task Force says, “Yes, there are new infections and certainly there are people who die from the disease, but when you look at what it was like in the 1980's compared to today, the world is a better place because of our presence here."
The Allen County Health Department offers free AIDS testing during normal office hours.
