Indiana Slaying Suspect Fighting Extradition In Vegas

June 18, 2010 Updated Dec 15, 2009 at 9:46 AM EST LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 57-year-old fugitive held in Las Vegas in the slaying of his 40-year-old fiancee in Indiana told a judge he'll fight transfer home in custody to face criminal charges. The judge on Monday ordered Steven Farrell to remain at the Clark County jail without bail pending another extradition hearing on Thursday. Indiana state police say Farrell faces murder and other charges in the Nov. 27 shooting death of 40-year-old Christine Craig of West Lafayette. A friend said Craig and Farrell had planned to be married that day. Authorities say Craig's 16-year-old daughter witnessed the slaying in a car on a rural road near the Benton County town of Otterbein. Farrell was arrested last Wednesday in the southern Nevada town of Mesquite. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
