June 18, 2010 FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Another public rally is being organized in support of high-speed rail coming to Fort Wayne. The federal government may decide in a matter of weeks whether high-speed lines connecting Chicago to Cleveland will go through Fort Wayne. That is the reason behind a rally set to take place January 16th at the Baker Street Station. The Indiana Department of Transportation has applied for $2.8 billion worth of federal stimulus money to get that train rolling. High Speed Rail Advocate Geoff Paddock said, "We're hoping there's more in the future, uh, it is the first start to this process and we hope that uh, the Fort Wayne to Chicago route could become a priority." Paddock believes winning the high-speed rail sweepstakes could generate hundreds of jobs for this area.
