FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Tuesday we broke the story about surveying being conducted for a possible new exit off I-69 north of Dupont Road.
Friday we spoke with a state lawmaker who has spoken to INDOT officials about the plans.
State Representative, Phyllis Pond, said INDOT leaders told her that they've known a new exit would eventually be needed between Dupont Road and Auburn.
They told her an exit at Union Chapel Road is “not” a done deal.
Pond said she doesn't expect a quick decision, and she hopes a plan can be found that would impact the "fewest homes" possible.
Pond says, “I'd like for no homes to have to be removed, but you know with the new hospital going out there, there's a lot of traffic. I came up Auburn Road, I couldn't believe all the traffic that was there at 8 o'clock in the morning.”
INDOT officials expect the Union Chapel survey to be completed in the next few weeks.
