Petitioners are scrambling for last minute signatures that will determine the fate of the proposed 500 million dollar Fort Wayne school building project.
Both sides, yellow and blue, are optimistic.
The organizer for Code Blue Schools, Evert Mol, says if Blue wins he’s not sure if the project will be considered again next year.
Blue is the side against the proposed building project.
“As for going back and coming back from a new proposal, all I can say is we learned a lot from this drive so if we need to do another proposal we will next year,” said Mol.
Kathy Friend, the chief financial officer for Fort Wayne Community Schools, said, “If we (Write Yellow) win the petition drive we will have much work to do. We'll have to probably hire a property manager to help us with the project. We'll have to go to the state to get final approval before we do anything actually and once we get approval we will go through the bidding process.”
