FORT WAYNE, IN (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A popular restaurant will close it's doors in two weeks after nearly 3 decades of business in Fort Wayne.
Casa's told Indiana's NewsCenter that revenue has steadily declined since the relocation of Lutheran Hospital more than 10 years ago, but they had overlooked the restaurant's performance out of loyalty.
Casa's told us they can no longer afford to do that, and will focus resources on its other 4 restaurants in town. The closing came as a big surprise to many in the area.
The non-profit "Early Childhood Alliance" is Casa's neighbor on Fairfield and employees there say the business will be sorely missed.
"that is very disappointing because we like to support area businesses and it's one of our neighbors. It's even more disappointing since they're good corporate citizens and they've given a lot to us including free meals when volunteers come in and do work", said Madeleine Baker, Executive Director of The Early Childhood Alliance.
Charlie Hire, President of the Southside Business Group was also surprised by the news "How do you say it, it's just kind of a shock. We're trying to find here on the southeast end what businesses in this quadrant want to support and it's kind of the real answer we're looking for"
Casa's final day of business at the Fairfield location will be on February 20th. The restaurant is 3rd to close in the area recently, joining Hartley's and Lambro's.
