Valentine's Ideas

June 18, 2010 Updated Feb 12, 2010 at 5:35 PM EST FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - If you're looking for a romantic getaway this weekend, the Allen County Visitor's Bureau has plenty of ideas. The Fort Wayne Philharmonic is playing at the Embassy Theatre on Saturday. The first Presbyterian Theater has a performance of Love Letters. And Art Link is having a bake sale Saturday to go along with their "Just Desserts" art display. Betsy Perry Patton with the Allen County Visitors Bureau says, “There are plenty of hotels in the area with packages, so that's something great. You could do a little overnight and do dinner at any local area restaurant. And a lot of the hotels are offering special packages for Valentines Day as well. And of course a local favorite is always DeBrand Fine Chocolates, so they'll be open long hours this weekend.” But if you're looking to spend a little less on Valentine’s Day this year, we checked out some prices for you. We went to Meijer and found a wide variety of flowers. A dozen roses costs close to $15. A box of chocolates will run you around five-dollars. And cards range between 1- $10. With all of this, you celebrate Valentine’s Day for less than $30.
