FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A piece of Fort Wayne history is being demolished.

The old Farnsworth factory named for its famous inventor Philo T. Farnsworth is being torn down.

The Fort Wayne resident was the inventor of the first fully electronic television system.

Officials with Fort Wayne Liquid Coatings Warehouse purchased the building less than ten-years ago.

Liquid Coatings Warehouse officials say the building is rotting and it's too expensive to fix.

Neighbors say they'll miss the Fort Wayne gem.

Dick Merren says, “It's very sad to see this place go away because of not only the people that worked there but what it represented for Fort Wayne. The history of the gentleman that invented most of the television.”

Farnsworth established the Farnsworth Television and Radio Corporation in Fort Wayne in 1938.
