FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Better Business Bureau officials are reporting a nearly 10 % increase in complaints 2009.

The cell phone industry received the most complaints with cable or satellite TV companies coming in second.

But for the first time ever banks rounded out the top three.

A local BBB spokesperson says complaints locally are down but inquiries are rising.

Mike Coil with the Better Business Bureau says, “I think it tells us that consumers are being more careful and when consumers have a problem they're being very quick to go ahead and file. Again we're seeing some complaints in categories we haven't seen before. And I think that may be fueling a lot of the increase.”

Coil says last year 16,000 people filed inquires in February.

This year, that number is 43,000.
