LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A LaGrange County Sheriff's Deputy pulled over Jayden Wayne Christner of Three Rivers, Michigan, Friday for speeding near the Howe Military School. While approaching Christner, the deputy smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from Christner's vehicle.
Officers also observed marijuana in plain view in the front compartment of the vehicle. Christner was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
During the inventory of Christner's vehicle, twelve large bags containing approximately one pound of marijuana, each, was discovered in a black suitcase that was on the floor located between the front passenger and driver's seats.
The marijuana has an estimated street value of $26,000.
Charges Christner will face include the following:
(1) Count of Posession of Marijuana (over 30 grams) - D Felony
(1) Count of Dealing in Marijuana over 10 lbs, within 1000 ft of a school - C Felony
(1) Count of Maintaining a Common Nuisance - D Felony
(1) Count of Possession of Paraphernalia - A Misdemeanor
Christner is being held on bonds totaling $19,000.
This matter is still under investigation by the LaGrange County Sheriff's Department and the S.C.A.N. Narcotics Team of St. Joseph, Michigan.
