WASHINGTON (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A jobs bill easily passed in the U.S. Senate Wednesday and President Obama promises to sign it into law.

The bipartisan vote was 68 to 29.

Under the bill, companies that hire unemployed workers will get a temporary payroll tax break and, it gives employers an additional $1,000 if new workers stay on the job for a full year.

The legislation offers a tax break to businesses that spend money on capital investments like equipment purchases.

And, it funds highway and transit programs through 2010.
