WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Adam Schrader was critically injured last month while responding to a call for help.

Now, a Whitely County Sheriff's Reserve Deputy needs your help.

Schrader was nearly killed in March when his patrol car slipped on gravel, ran off the road, and hit a tree.

He suffered a fractured skull and bleeding in the brain along with multiple breaks and fractures. Which has had him recovering in the hospital ever since.

But because he is a "reserve" officer, working for free, he needs help paying the mounting medical bills.

Adam's sister Carrie Schrader says, “The reserves of Whitley County and also the police and fire fund, they have a fund in Whitley County, have given him some money. But all the bills in the meantime are going to have to come from that kind of money or from family."

Schrader is said to be improving.

Donations can be made at any Fire and Police Credit Union location.
