INDIANA (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Department of Natural Resources is informing the public that they have started detecting the presence of the Emerald Ash Borer insect in Indiana.
The Emerald Ash Borer is an insect known to kill Ash trees found throughout Indiana.
Purple panel traps, which resemble purple box kites, are baited with a scent that attracts the adult insects and coated with a sticky substance to ensnare the insects when they land.
Occasionally high winds or other weather events cause the traps to fall and the DNR would like to be notified if a trap has fallen or become dislodged from its location by calling 1-866 NO EXOTIC (1-866-663-9684).
