HUNTINGTON, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - It will be a new trash schedule on a trial basis in Huntington.
Mayor Steve Updike confirmed Thursday what we reported first on Wednesday that beginning May 10th, trash pick-up in Huntington will go back to a weekly schedule.
Mayor Updike says the 11 street department workers will pick-up residents trash Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
The 11 workers will have to do the chore while accruing no overtime.
If your current day is Monday or Tuesday, your trash will be picked up on Monday.
If you have Wednesday or Thursday pick-up, it will be Tuesday and if your current day is Friday, it moves to Wednesday.
Mayor Updike says, “Two weeks ago, the City of Huntington was in debt 876,000 dollars and this is a realignment of manpower. There will be no overtime.”
Door hangers with the new schedule will be delivered to residents.
Updike says if this doesn't work, he will re-evaluate.
