FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Fort Wayne International Airport will soon begin screening passengers with full body scanners.
TSA is rolling these out at airports across the country and Fort Wayne is set to receive them sometime this month.
Some experts say the higher level of screening could have stopped the attempted Detroit-bound airline bomber Christmas Day.
But these scanners have sparked controversy because they essentially reveal passengers naked.
FWA officials say they could reduce wait time.
Director of Operations Scott Hinderman says, “I believe they're going to increase the efficiency of the screening process. They might not be exactly faster, but they'll have less alarms. People can get through them quicker and they'll be less wait times.”
Hinderman says leary passengers still have the option of using a metal detector.
