FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – Bands of snow, heavy at times, moved across the 21 Alive viewing area this evening. Winter weather advisories were in effect for counties to the south of Ft. Wayne, but heavy snow did fall in the city as well. Here in the city, we are saw around 2 inches of snow with higher totals, between 2 to 5 inches, for the counties under winter weather advisories. Locally higher totals may be possible if you were under a heavier band. There were several accidents this evening, including I-69, and a one on I-65 near Lafayette, IN which resulted in a fire and the closure of the interstate. The snow has tapered off now with no snow expected for your morning commute. If you have to go out tonight, please drive safely, and allow extra time for travel, as roads are still in less than perfect condition. A list of reported snow totals can be found below.
