HUNTINGTON, Ind. (21Alive) - A fall softball tournament that honors a power company worker killed in a 2006 gas explosion was cancelled Saturday due to rain

The sixth annual Alan Dalrymple Memorial Softball Tournament was to be played all day at Evergreen and Homier parks in Huntington.

Alan Dalrymple was a Vectren energy serviceman who died in an explosion when an excavator struck an underground line.

The tournament reminds people to call Indiana 811 before construction or digging to prevent tragic accidents and damage to utility lines.

Hoosiers are required by law to call Indiana 811 to notify of digging projects ranging from gardens to larger construction. Professional line locators will visit the site and mark underground utility lanes.

Tournament organizers say a possible make-up date has not been determined.
