FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Ariel Castro, the man accused of kidnapping three women in Cleveland and holding them for nearly a decade, is the father of a local man who previously worked as a copy editor with the Journal Gazette, according to multiple sources.

Also in connection with this story, the local man's sister, Emily Castro, was convicted of attempted murder for slicing the throat of her then 11-month-old daughter. Emily is currently serving her 25-year sentence behind bars.

Emily was 21-years-old when she was sentenced in 2008. The brutal attack occurred in April of 2007.

Prosecutors said that Emily was seeking revenge on her ex-boyfriend, who is the girl's father. Emily's defense attorneys said that she suffers from depression and was delusional leading up to incident.
