WASHINGTON (Indiana's NewsCenter) - As Americans travel for Thanksgiving, at the airport security line they face two potential options: a full body scanner or a full body pat down.
Many find either choice too invasive.
Government officials say they understand that some passengers are upset and will consider changes to the procedures.
Secretary Homeland Security Janet Napolitano says, “Of course we will listen to concerns, of course we will make adjustments or changes when called upon, but not changes or adjustments that'll affect the basic operational capability that we need to have to make sure that air travel remains safe.”
Officials say the purpose of the enhanced pat-downs and screeners is to prevent situations like the Christmas Day bomber last year.
His non-metallic underwear bomb would not have been picked on a metal detector.
