FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- A Fort Wayne man is under arrest and charged with Felony Domestic Battery and Felony Strangulation after barricading himself in a home early Sunday morning.

Sunday morning at 2:00am, the Fort Wayne Police Department was conducting an investigation that led them to the 4500 block of Anthony Wayne Dr. SW. This is where officers observed Damichael L. McMillon, 23, a wanted suspect, run into a home.

Officers ordered all of the occupants out of the house and several people exited, except for McMillon. The people that exited the home confirmed that McMillon was inside the home. Officers made several attempts to order him out of the house using their loud speaker, but those attempts failed. At that time the Emergency Services Team (EST) and Crisis Response Team (CRT) were sent to the scene.

CRT members tried to call McMillon on his cell phone, but he would not answer. EST members attempted to call to the suspect using a PA system but still no response. Finally members of EST deployed a flash bang to try to force McMillon to exit, but the suspect still did not. In a final attempt to motivate the suspect to leave the house peacefully, EST members deployed tear gas into the home. When this final attempt was unsuccessful, EST members forced their way into the house, and at 7:45 a.m. McMillon was taken into custody.

Anthony Wayne Dr. SW remained closed from W. Colonial Ave to Capitol Ave. during the investigation. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and Allen County Prosecutors Office.
