FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Power has been fully restored to the area near Jefferson Pointe that was affected by a downed power line.

A possible hit and run crash into a utility pole downed that electrical wire, leaving hundreds without power early Tuesday.

Police found the downed wire at the intersection of Hillegas and Illinois roads shortly after midnight. Crews from Indiana Michigan Power were immediately called in to secure the wire, and restore service to the area.

Police reportedly pulled over an intoxicated driver at the intersection of Lower Huntington and Ardmore. It has not yet been confirmed if that was the driver connected to the original hit and run.

Dispatchers tell us that power service was knocked out in the neighborhoods near Jefferson Pointe mall.
