FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- The owner of Briljent LLC has to let go of half of her consulting company's workforce, accounting for up to 130 jobs.
Entrepreneur, Kathy Carrier says the job cuts will affect two people in Fort Wayne and the rest are in Indianapolis. The business lost a federal contract because of company growth which means it no longer qualifies as a small business.
Many of those laid off will be employed by the company that won the new contract and will probably use the same building.
"It's just, contracting with the federal government is a different animal and so one of the things we rejuvenated and re-energized is our effort to get back into corporate work. So that hospital systems and a lot of corporate opportunities, we're back in to. We're proud of that and we're excited about it." Carrier told 21Alive.
Carrier believes her company will simply move into other fields of work.
