Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Domestic violence is a growing problem and it's a problem the State's Attorney General has recently made a top priority.
The State's Attorney General unveiled a new tool for victims of domestic violence in Indiana.
It's called the Hope Card. The card is for victims of domestic violence who already have a civil protection order.
With the new program victims will be given a Hope Card. The card will include details about the court order. The goal of the card is to aid police in finding and taking action against violators.
Police in Fort Wayne aren't sold on the idea because they say it won't help them make faster arrests and they still have to go through the courts. Local police say this isn't going to change how they operate.
Attorney General Zoeller says the entire cost is being paid for through a $30,000 grant from Verizon Wireless.
The City of Fort Wayne is constantly fighting to drive down the number of domestic violence cases. So far this year the police department has been called out 7,000 times for complaints of domestic violence. Last year they had 12,000 calls come in for people who fell victim to domestic violence.
