Payne, Ohio (Indiana's NewsCenter) - We now know why two blades on a wind turbine in Payne, Ohio on April 24 failed.
Vestas - American Wind Technology worked with EDPR and local authorities to find answers.
A spokesperson for Vestas said inspections reveal the first blade fell from a turbine in April because of a manufacturing defect and caused damage to a second blade because of overload. All 55 turbines on the Timber Road II Wind Farm in Payne were shut down until this week.
The production error has been corrected and no other turbines are at risk of failure.
