FISHERS, Ind., (Indiana's NewsCenter)---- If you're heading south, you may want to budget some extra travel time as INDOT starts rebuilding one of the busiest stretches of Interstate 69.

Today marks the start of "Operation Indy Commute." INDOT will rebuild a busy stretch of I-69, leading to some night-time lane closures occurring between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

But 24-hour work starts this summer. And that's when I-69 will go down to just two lanes in both directions.

Crews will work in the northbound lanes at exit five, where drivers connect to 116th Street in Fishers, and State Road 37 to Noblesville.

The whole project is expected to last about two years.
