BUTLER, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A Northeast Indiana animal shelter is asking for the public's help to ease overcrowding at its facility.
The DeKalb Humane Society, 5221 U.S. 6 in Butler, is bursting at the seams with homeless dogs and cats.
Shelter officials say pet abandonments are up, given the struggling economy; and that drop offs happen more in the summer when families move.
The shelter asks people if they are going to leave their pet behind, not to do so in the middle of the night; but rather during business hours.
Anyone interested in adopting any of the pets at the DeKalb Humane Society, call (260) 868-2409.
