STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive) - A Steuben County Sheriff's Officer Deputy, Adam Meeks, 34, has been released from the hospital and is now recovering in the comfort of his own home.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says Meeks was released Friday night. He had previously been in the Intensive Care Unit and was undergoing physical therapy.
Meeks was hospitalized last Saturday night after crashed into a tree, and was pinned in his car.
The Steuben County Sheriff's office says Reserve Deputy Adam Meeks, 34, or Fremont, Ind. remains in serious condition Sunday after the accident.
It happened Saturday night on SR 327 just north of CR 400 South.
Officials say the deputy was on his way to assist Dekalb County police when a car pulled out in front of him. The deputy swerved to avoid the car and hit a tree. He was pinned in his car for more than an hour.
Fire crews arrived at the scene and extradited him from the car. He was airlifted to a local hospital with head, ankle, and wrist injuries. Alcohol was not a factor.
