Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - There's a chill in the air and it's starting to feel like fall and that means time to get your furnace checked.
To keep your family safe here's what your local heating and air technician will be looking for.
They'll check the heat exchanger, temperature safety, presser switch, and electrical connections.
They'll also make sure there are no gas leaks and clean up the furnace.
Technicians say nearly 80 percent of potential problems can be caught during an annual tune-up.
George Rorick with Korte says, “Now some of those things we can avoid just by cleaning. Things that are ware items, we can identify the ware and make recommendations to take care of that so you're not taking care of it some night at midnight."
Technicians say filters vary but the more people in your home, the more often it needs changed.
