Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - For the second time ever, Avilla Elementary students and staff collected more than one million pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House located at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
The tabs were housed in the school’s lobby in a glass “house” constructed by a student’s parent.
During Tuesday’s convocation, students will receive a thank you message from Ronald McDonald and a representative from the Ronald McDonald House at Parkview Hospital.
The tabs will now be emptied from the house and taken to a recycling center. The funds generated from recycling the aluminum pop tabs will help offset the House's expenses.
Construction is expected to be completed soon and the grand opening of the new Ronald McDonald House is scheduled for November at Parkview Regional Hospital.
