BRYAN, Ohio (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Investigators are looking into what sparked a large blaze that essentially wiped out a farm near Bryan.
Officials say the fire started in Hope Johnson's barn then spread to the home on County Road 15 around 4:30 Monday afternoon.
Firefighters tried to save the home, but couldn't overcome the flames. They were forced to take what officials call "a defensive stance" while the fire destroyed the barn and home.
It took about four hours for fire crews to extinguish the blaze. The Bryan Fire Department was assisted by firefighters from Brady, Montpelier and Stryker, Ohio.
The family escaped the fire safely. Officials some carpenters working next to the home saw the fire and ran to warn the family to get out of the house. Nobody was injured.
However, the barn and the home were total losses and officials say the home was not insured.
