NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive) -- A Garret man is dead after crashing his moped.

Noble County police say it happaned just after midnight at Baseline Road and County Road 900 East.

Police say 53 year-old Jeffery Bogenschutz apparently lost control of his moped and crashed it on the side of the road.

His moped slid away from him, back into the road.

Shortly after, an 18 year-old driver didn't see the abandonded moped and hit it with his car.

That driver then called police to alert them of the moped in the road.

When they arrived on the scene, they found Bogenschutz injured and lying on the side of the road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
