FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Fire crews were working to control a blaze at the Twin Oaks Apartments complex on the city's southeast side Friday morning.

The fire sparked sometime around 9 a.m. at the complex off of E. Paulding Road. Crews arrived and found smoke and fire coming from the first and second floors of apartment 6060.

They called extra crews to the scene due to the potential of the fire spreading and endangering lives.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the fire apartment and attic. Ceilings and walls were breached in the adjacent apartments to check for fire spread but none was found.

The fire was under control in 30 minutes.

The building was occupied at the time of the fire and all the people inside had evacuated themselves. Displaced occupants will be relocated to other apartments within the complex.
