Fire Chief Kelly to Retire in August

Fort Wayne, IN (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Mayor Tom Henry announced Friday that Fire Chief Pete Kelly will be retiring after nearly three decades of service.

Kelly became Chief in 2007 after serving as a firefighter for 15 years and as a Deputy Chief for seven years.

"I have a lot of mixed emotions. I'm really gonna miss the fire department. The staff I worked with, that's going to be the toughest thing is to leave them but I know they're prepared, they're ready, the future is bright for the Fort Wayne Fire Department. I'm excited, it's going to be a new chapter for me," said Chief Pete Kelly, Fort Wayne Fire Department.

He’ll remain with the department through August 3.

Kelly’s replacement will be named by the Mayor in the near future.
