Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Investigators have recovered the vehicle used in the armed robbery at the First Federal Savings Bank. The vehicle was located in the area of 4800 S. Hanna Street and is currently being processed for evidence.
Fort Wayne Police were called to an armed robbery at First Federal Savings Bank located on the Southwest side of town just after they opened for business.
Police were alerted to the robbery in the 5300 block of Southbend Drive just after 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Witnesses tell police that initially one suspect entered the bank shortly after the bank opened for business, wearing a ball cap and held a paper in his hand. The robbery suspect approached the counter, raised the hood of his hooded-sweatshirt over his head and demanded money from the two tellers that were inside the bank. then a second suspect entered the bank making the same demands. The suspects are said to have displayed a handgun during the robbery.
The perpetrators fled with an undetermined amount of cash.
The robbery remains under investigation and if any information can be provided by the public individuals should call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 260-436-STOP.
This is the eighth bank robbery in Fort Wayne this year.
No customers were inside the bank when this incident occurred, and no injuries have been reported.
