Food Stamp Cuts: $36 Less A Month

November 1, 2013 Updated Nov 1, 2013 at 8:15 AM EDT

UNITED STATES (21Alive) -- Millions across the country will see a cut in food stamp benefits beginning Friday. It will include 925,000 Hoosiers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program also known as SNAP.

The cuts come as the federal stimulus bill expires, which means a family of four will now receive $36 less a month.

Federal stimulus has pumped $45 billion into the program since 2009. An estimated $98 million worth of food will be lost in the cuts.
