Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - UAW Local 2209 and Fort Wayne GM Assembly jointly raised funds to help sponsor six children in the 2012 Make-A-Wish program.

During Tuesday morning’s check ceremony Fort Wayne Assembly and UAW Local 2209 presented the Make-A-Wish Foundation a check exceeding their goal of $32,000 for 2012. This money will be combined with the June 30 Walk for Wishes that brought in $27,000.

The funds will be used to make the wishes of critically ill children come true. Ten deserving children will get a wish of a lifetime with the grand total of nearly $60,000.

"We get a chance to see these kids come through the plant, we invite them to come through., " said Andy Clark from UAW Local 2209. "Just to meet them, to see what they're going through, and to talk to them, and see what we can do to make their life a little bit better."

Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation it takes about $6,000 for each critically ill child's wish to come true.
