Allen County, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Governor Mitch Daniels along with many other local and state lawmakers cut the ribbon opening the new portion of U.S. 24 in Allen County.
The $93 million project has been in the works since 2008.
The Fort to Port Project is a big milestone for the governor and everyone involved.
Toni Mayo with the Fort Wayne INDOT District said, “It's like opening the biggest package under the tree. It's a project that we've been watching, working with construction, working with the media, since I believe it was 08.”
Both the westbound and eastbound lanes are now open on the new U.S. 24 highway.
Allen County will rename the former U.S. 24 as Old U.S. 24.
