FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- The second annual Groundhog Open is taking place Thursday until 4 p.m. on a 18-hole championship putting course laid out between the Grand Wayne Center, the Embassy Theatre/Indiana Hotel and the downtown Courtyard by Marriott.
The event raises funds toward expanding and maintaining the year-round flower planter program that was established by the City as part of the 2009-2010 renovations of Calhoun Street. The planters are maintained by the Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department with support from the Downtown Improvement District.
It costs an average of $400 a year per planter to maintain the planters in addition to the initial costs.
