FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Two Allen County Jail inmates are being charged with assault after a confinement officer had to be rescued by other officers in October of 2011.

Court records say 19-year-old Joshua L. Rhodes of Fort Wayne began to hit the officer in the face causing the officer to fall backwards.

When the confinement officer tried to hold Rhodes’ arms 19-year-old Odis L. Moore jumped in and began hitting and kicking the officer allowing Rhodes to maneuver himself into position to put the officer into a headlock. This prevented the officer from calling for help.

The Journal Gazette reports that the two inmates then held the officer hostage in a side room continuing their assault until other officers were able to enter the room.
