INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (Indiana's NewsCenter)--Ten people, mostly teens, were shot in three separate shootings in downtown Indianapolis Saturday night during Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration.
The first shooting occurred near the intersection of Illinois and Maryland streets just after 9:30 p.m. when someone began firing into a large crowd. Eight people, all boys ranging in age from 10 to 18 years old, were struck by gunfire.
A second shooting occurred a few minutes later at the corner of Georgia and Meridian streets. Police say a 16-year-old boy was shot in both legs.
And just before 11:30 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot in the legs on West Market Street.
The victims were taken to local hospitals and were listed in good condition early Sunday morning.
Police say the shootings were unrelated and the result of young boys showing up at public events armed with guns. Several suspects are in custody.
