The faster your vehicle is traveling when you hit a pothole, the more damage it can cause.
The higher speeds also create a safety issue for INDOT crews repairing them. The brutal winter was especially tough on the on-ramp at 469 West off Maplecrest Road.
Indot, of course, only fixes the interstates and state roads. If you see a pothole on a road the state cares for call 484-9541.
Until the weather warms up more, crews will use a cold mix for repair, which is really just a temporary fix until they can use a more permanent "hot mix."
Fixing potholes is a regular part of INDOT's maintenance operations.
Despite a brutal Winter, INDOT has received a similar number of complaints about potholes compared to last year.
