UNDATED (www.incnow.tv) - People in Manti Te'o's hometown express shock and jump to his defense after those unbelievable reports about his fake girlfriend.

University of Notre Dame leaders say Te'o is the victim of a cruel hoax that involved a girlfriend, her name is Lennay Kekua, but it turns out she never existed. She was allegedly in a car crash last fall, and later died of leukemia leading up to Notre Dame’s game against 10th ranked Michigan State.

Te’o developed an online relationship with her a couple of years ago and now claims that he’s the victim of a hoax unaware that the entire time he was being led on. People in Te’o’s hometown of Laie, Hawaii believe he was taken advantage of because of his good nature.

Sometime next week we could get a clearer picture of it all once Te’o speaks with the media.
