FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – Music educators from around the state couldn't have come to Fort Wayne at a better time for Winterval.

The Indiana Music Education Association (IMEA) is holding its annual three-day convention at the Grand Wayne Center in downtown Fort Wayne this weekend.

“Winterval" is a family-friendly, one-day winter festival offering activities and events at downtown venues.

This is the third year IMEA has returned to the Grand Wayne for its convention, drawing approximately 3,000 music teachers and students to downtown.

The Indiana All State Percussion Ensemble and the DeKalb High School show choir performed Saturday afternoon followed by the Indiana University Singing Hoosiers.

Earlier Saturday morning, a professional ice carver carved the IMEA apple logo from a block of ice.
